Juneau Folk Ensemble
The Juneau Folk Ensemble was the performing company of the Juneau International Folkdancers for nearly two decades. Its objectives were to encourage appreciation for the multi-ethnic heritage of America through dance; to entertain and educate audiences through performances; and to develop excellence and authenticity in international folkdance.
At its apex, the ensemble had 27 dancers, 13 musicians and a 10-member chorale. It performed throughout Southeast Alaska and in the Yukon, including appearances in Sitka, Pelican, Hoonah, Kake, Port Alexander, Skagway, Haines, Gustavus, Pelican and Whitehorse. The ensemble enjoyed the consistent financial support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council.
